winched.

winched., originally uploaded by mintyfresh.

well, we survived sailing, round two.

Some key highlights:

  • I did not throw up (this one was pretty important).
  • Brett almost lost the winch handle, but we SAVED it. Thank god for the triangle-method, and crew overboard drills.
  • May is still really freaking cold – yesterday I wore two tanktops, one long sleeved shirt, my cross country ski jacket, a nylon windbreaker AND a lifejacket. And I was still cold. See also: mittens.
  • I think I am a knot-nerd. I can tie them all.
  • People who are out sailing with their fenders down look ridiculous.

Now, to write the exam. So much to memorize!

  1. Lovely lovely theme. Clean, pretty, tidy. I heart WordPress.

  2. Sailboats have fenders??
    Very odd indeed.

  3. kimu – I heart wordpress too. :)

nancy – they do! somethings got to keep you from bumping up against not very flexible docks!

  4. Very envious of your boating adventures. When I was 15 I went to sailing camp and got a “license” of sorts. Obviously that’s long expired and I haven’t been on a sailboat since! But it was a blast.

    Take more pics!

  5. Ah… you mean “bumper dudes”.
They make it difficult to plane a motorboat as well… and lucky for my dad, as Captain, he gets to order me to haul them in and get all wet and covered with the slime that collects on them.
