Aug 30 2006 Published by under crafty,kitties

things I am working on

  • the above quilt – more (and bigger photos) soon
  • a bird quilt – lots of applique!
  • adding new pillows like this and this to my online shop
  • trying to find all of my camera’s memory cards before Amsterdam
  • pretending like I don’t care that I am going to see the flaming lips, ben lee, metric, clap your hands say yeah, the magic numbers, starsailor, sonic youth, we are wolves, islands, wolf parade, tokyo police club, and kid koala at Osheaga this weekend. EEEEEEEE! I heart outdoor music.
  • saying goodbye to Olive

Olive is going back on Friday. Adopt an awesome kitten this weekend! Thankyou.

UPDATE: I have two extra tickets to Osheaga (for both days) because some friends can’t make it. Anybody interested? Leave a comment or email me!

things I am reading

I’ve been reading a lot lately. I tend to go through phases with books – there has to be just enough time to laze about turning pages for me to really get into it, otherwise I get too stressed about having enough time to finish it up. Welcome to my time-planning-compulsion.

The four books above are the ones I’ve been whipping through these past few weeks. Amsterdam is kind of self-explanatory. I didn’t go all out and get a “tourist guide” because, well, I have access to the internet, and secondly, I’m there for work. Which will likely consume about 1000% of my time. But it makes good page-flipping fodder, and I get to think about what I *might* do, if I had the chance. I’d like to get out and at least do something, like the Van Gogh Museum, and take a zillion photos. Luckily, we’re staying near the flowermarket area, and we’ll have to tram everyday to get to the conference center. Travel time – picture time!

The second is Party Of One: The Loners Manifesto, a novel by Anneli Rufus on why society makes it tough to be an introvert, but all the same, being an introvert is ok. I was inspired to pick it up after I read her farewell chronicles – an amazing book on how people really cope with death, and why it shouldn’t be such a taboo subject.

The other two I haven’t been able to get into yet…perhaps they’ll be reborn as plane fodder if we’re still allowed to bring books onboard….

And on that note, a funny link about air travel.

non-stop busy

Aug 23 2006 Published by under irrelevance

I feel like I’ve been out of touch lately. With everything. It’s been reaaaaallllllllly busy.

Here’s why:

  • In two weeks, I head to Amsterdam (woo, Amsterdam!) for my day job.
  • Iris is sick. Handfeeding her every three hours (even in the middle of the night) is no small feat.
  • Olive is NOT SICK. Keeping her from pouncing on her sick sister is like asking rainclouds to maybe hold it a little bit longer, thankyouverymuch.
  • I am working on my very own (smallprint) line of fabrics – for sale, and for my own personal use. The lack of crafty here will be made up for, I promise. Especially since I’ve also got two quilts in progress. Oh the crafting.
  • There is just NO time for taking photos. And blogging. Or a combination of the two.
  • I like sleeping. And long afternoon naps.

More blogging soon, I promise!
