That’s all, folks.

2007 comes to an end with a tiny little bang, and 17 minutes of fireworks on parliament hill.

While I can’t say I’ll miss this year, it was still a good one for the most part. Like everyone else I know – 2007 seemed to be the year where there was more work to be done than people to do it. I’ll always associate it with one thing – exhaustion.

This year, Brett and I settled into our new place, and fostered a mere handful of kittens (Lucy, Charlie, Sophie, Boris, Natasha, Seamus, Gus, Patrick, Sam, and Hobbes). We’re planning for our next big trip (India 2008) and trying to figure out how to stay sane in the meantime.

I crafted my butt off in 2007 – only four shows, but boy were they big shows. The ladyfest Christmas sale was my biggest show ever, and my studio is still full of the remnants of reams of new fabric that graced my studio shelves because of it. I also managed my first ever out of town show (note to self: get more sleep). Thanks to everyone who supported me this past year, whether through your words of encouragement, or becoming a customer. It’s been a blast!

Travel-wise, 2007 brought no surprises – Las Vegas, Amsterdam, and the usual suspects like Montreal and Halifax. For the first time in many years, I went home – and I loved it. There’s nothing quite like being surrounded by people you love in a place that will always be familiar.

2008 brings good things, and long list of things I want to accomplish. One of them is to blog more – the rest I’m not sure I’ll ever say out loud. At least not until this time next year.

Happy 2008! Hope yours is as good as I intend mine to be.

let it snow

I have been singing christmas carols in my head for weeks now (curse you, tinned holiday muzak – you invaded my brain!). But now it’s snowing outside (we’re supposed to get walloped with the white stuff overnight and tomorrow), and time for my one and only christmas requirements – The Grinch. I don’t know why, but it’s the only Christmas music niceness that’s stuck with me since I was tiny, perhaps the result of too many rote piano christmas duets or something.

Piles of presents have covered my office, and the last of my holiday orders are being delivered to anxious eager customers, pleased to have something special and unique for that someone special. Work is winding down, though surprising, since things there are only really winding up. Lots is happening in Robyn-land. It’s time for a kitty, too.

We went to our first ZenKitchen dinner tonight. FAB. It was amazing! No-cheese cheesecake, cheese-free ricotta, and yummy vegan treats and organic wine. Worth the wait, and the expense. I can’t wait to check out the next one!

Our new bed gets delivered tomorrow. Can’t wait for that either. We’ve been keeping our fingers crossed since early december that we’d have somewhere new to sleep for the holidays and we got our wish! Now there’s just a bed frame to assemble that (THANK GOD) is not from Ikea. Betcha it doesn’t involve an allan key!

Links and fun stuff soon, I promise – including a video of last night’s ski trip to the Gatineaus. And photos galore – I’m getting quite the backlog! Until then, happy shoveling.

lunch apparel

After countless hours of sewing, and more 4am bedtimes than I care to even think about anymore, it’s done! Ladyfest has come and gone, Poppytalk Handmade is mere moments from being through, and I’m 8 days from “It’s too late to arrive for Christmas” territory!

Thanks to everyone who came out and stopped by – it was great to see loads of familiar faces, some familiar yet SURPRISE visitors, and meet some new & lovely faces too!

Now that it’s all over I can get back to work and start to think about the holidays. And Sam – poor guy has been neglected because all he’s wanted to do is collect camera strap ends in his secret hiding spot. This means that my office is off-limits. We’ve been spending hours each day with me on the inside, and sam on the outs, poking one sad little paw and his babycat nose through the crack under the door. He is a pro at the pitiful meows.

The extremely adoptable Sams heads back to the Humane Society on Tuesday! Yikes. November breezed by.
