My first great manager, early in my career, gave me some good advice: “Always do what you are truly excited about.” At the time, I was nineteen years old. I had no idea what he meant.

It took me a long time (and a lot of watching him follow that same advice) to figure out what he was really talking about. And to do it.

Two months ago, I left the NAC to work for myself. In between, I’ve met with lots of companies, and talked about lots of opportunities. But not one of them left me excited. Until now.

Two weeks ago, I stumbled upon an opportunity that I thought sounded really exciting. One week ago, Brett and I decided that it was the right thing to do. The exciting thing to do.

And here we are! This week I started a new job as Director of Marketing for CakeMail, a dynamic little company in Montreal, a city to which we are now MOVING. Soon.

It’s all so very exciting! (And more than a little bit exhausting!). There are a lot of lists to write, plans to make, and some crazy bouts of apartment hunting in a different city in our future. But we can’t wait.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to montreal but it never fails to be easy to fit back into the groove of the city. While I was there for some meetings, I managed to find a few moments to notice my surroundings – so many beautiful spaces and textures to photograph and look at.

I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
