I’ve been a bit capital-s-swamped lately so we decided that a road trip might be in order. Saturday’s beautiful sunny weather was just perfect for a little day trip, so bright and early we hopped in the car and headed for the border.

Living in Ottawa, Montreal was always the nearest getaway, but now that we live here we live closer to so many other interesting places! Like Burlington, closer to our house than Ottawa, if you don’t count the horrific wait at the border to clear customs.

We snacked on dumplings (SO good), had local pints at the Church Street Tavern, took an itty-bitty ferry and really just enjoyed spending a day without a timeline and a list of things to accomplish.

I spent some of the last fleeting days of fall last weekend with a new friend in Verdun. Trigger-happy, we walked with our cameras for at least a few hours, capturing whatever looked interesting as we went.

To make a long story short, I whittled 530 photos down to 58.

Music on the brain here these days as I’ve been updating the ‘concerts we probably might want to go to’ list with some regularity instead of “oh! we live in a city that has concerts! that’s so nice, i’m too busy.” which has been the rule of thumb for the past few weeks (hence why I haven’t even talked about music here). But now – so many concerts and so little time (and conflicts! even). That never happened in Ottawa.

So for this week, a mid-week music Friday on a Wednesday. Happy listening!
